One of the nicest things to do in Edam, is strolling around in the historic center (a conservation area).
In 1357, Edam was granted its city rights and during this guided stroll you will see numerous places of interest. Edam is one of the most picturesque city's with beautiful canals and historical buildings, such as the Carillon tower, The Great or St. Nicolas Church with its stained glass windows or the Cheese Weigh House. This city of cheese has a rich history in shipbuilding, wood trade, legislature and a traditionally mercantile spirit.
